Sometimes the version of us from years ago still longs to be seen, held, and reassured. And sometimes, we forget to give ourselves credit for how far we’ve come. This ritual invites you to pause, reconnect with who you once were, and offer that younger self the love and compassion they always deserved, while reclaiming the parts of you that are ready to be honored in this next chapter of your life.
By bridging your past, present, and future selves, you weave a thread of healing that strengthens your whole self today. With this alignment, you can move forward feeling supported, clear, and grounded in a foundation that celebrates your wholeness.
Love Letter to Your Younger Self
Time: 10 minutes
What you need:
- A pen
- Paper or a journal
- A spirit of self-compassion
- Optional: candle, incense, and soft music
Steps:
- Find a quiet, comfortable space. If it feels good, light a candle or incense to awaken your senses and create a sacred atmosphere.
- If music inspires you, put on a soft song—or even one that takes you back to where you were 10 years ago.
- Close your eyes and picture yourself a decade ago.
- Take three deep breaths, and with each exhale, imagine yourself reconnecting with that younger version of you.
- Reflect: What were you dreaming of? Worrying about? Hoping for? What was life like for you then?
- Open your eyes and begin writing a love letter to your younger self, from who you are today.
Use these prompts to guide you:
- What message does your younger self have for you now?
- What was their greatest wish for you?
- What message do you want to share with them?
- Imagine your past self, present self, and future self sitting together. What do each of you need moving forward?
- What are your soul’s deepest desires?
- What steps can you take today, this week, this month, and this year to move toward that vision?
- Bonus: Find a photo of yourself from 10 years ago and hold it close while answering these questions.
